That was, until I met Ellison James….
Since the moment I first saw her she was a raging bull; tackling me in the mud and throwing out insults as fast as her tongue could form the sound.
She was snarky
She was rude
And she pissed me off like no other woman could.
I lived beside her for a summer and in the three months that I walked by her side...
She opened my eyes
She changed my life
And she made me a better man
5+ sweet stars
OK so most of you know I am a huge M.S. fan and if she writes something I read it. Well Because of Ellison is by far and without a doubt my favorite of all her work.I can not tell you how much I loved this book with out telling you a few spoilers so just know that I loved it and I will try not to give any spoilers. With that being said here goes.
This book starts out with Hunter who is a smart, rich, good looking guy who is wanting to have fun his last summer before he has to start college. When I first read about him my first thought was "what a cocky arrogant ass, someone needs to throat punch him and then kick him in the balls just for fun and while he is down go ahead and Gibbs slap him (if you watch show NCIS you know the Gibb slap if not it is simply a slap on the back of the head) because he deserves it. Never fear he does change. When he meets Ellison James. I loved her. She was sassy, smart, and didn't take crap from anyone and sneaky to top it off. She was just the person to straighten Hunter out.
Now, if you have read M.S. Willis' Control Series or her The Estate Series then you know that she is very talented and those are both very different genres. Well, guess what? Yep this one is different from either of those and just as good. Well in my opinion better because I loved this one. Did I mention that? I will say this is a very emotional read and she will have you laughing and crying before the end of the book. Her characters will grab you pull you in and squeeze your heart until it feels like it will burst. I could feel the emotions and felt like I was living the scenes. I can see this one as a movie and it would be a fantastic one. This is a must read!
Those must have been fighting words, because the next thing she did was slam her hands against me with such force it almost knocked the air out of my chest. I tried to hold on, but when she took both my nipples between her fingers and twisted, I released her in response to the pain.
“Fuck! Ellison, that shit hurt!”
“I know it did, that’s why I did it. And you can expect that reaction from me every time you think you’re going to overpower and force me to stay still when I don’t want to!”
“Well, then fine!” I shoved my chest out at her and held my arms out to my sides. “Go ahead and rip them off then, El, because you can expect that I’m going to hold you every day until you stop breathing!”
She looked at me like I was nuts. Her voice was a whisper when she asked, “Why can’t you just go home?”
We stood staring at each other for a few seconds. It was eerily quiet where we stood, almost as if the birds and bugs had stopped to watch, curious to find out what would happen between us.
We locked eyes and I walked up to her. Grabbing her by her chin, I tilted her angry face up in my direction and held on when she tried to pull away.
“I am home. Why can’t you just accept it?”
