Brea quickly grabbed a glass of champagne from the bartender, desperately wishing it were a shot of Patron, turning to lean back against the bar and search for her producer, Garrett. He was nowhere to be found, but sure enough, the bane of her existence was striding toward her with purpose. Could a girl not catch a break? Downing the champagne in one unladylike gulp, she put her glass on the bar and waited for the showdown. It was bound to be a good one, if the first two were any indication. For once, she wasn’t going to shy away from him, figuring she needed to nip his arrogance in the bud now.

“Hey, darling.” Lance smirked at her, knowing he irritated her and doing it anyway. She smiled mockingly.

“Look who it is: Hollywood legend and actor extraordinaire.” She leaned closer, her lips a hair’s breadth away from his. She knew exactly what she was doing and knew she had him when those green eyes grew hazy with what was to come.

“Edgy, sexy as fuck, and just rough enough around the edges to seduce random girls in the back.” She moved, kissing his cheek softly before whispering in his ear, “Too bad you won’t ever get that shit from me.” She felt him tense at her words, but he kept quiet. She pulled back, laying her lips lightly on his before she leaned back to gauge his reaction. His eyes narrowed, realizing he played right into her hand, and he moved before she could guess what he was doing.

She found herself pinned between his arms against the bar, her body pressed against his tightly. She could feel his erection against her center, making her want to rub up and down his body. She didn’t have to move; he did it for her, holding her hostage with his piercing glaze. He rubbed once, twice, making her squirm in an unconscious bid to get closer. What started as her plan to put him on notice had backfired.

“You feel that?” He pressed his erection into her hips, pressing tiny kisses to her jaw. She bit her lip to resist the moan of pleasure. She was captivated and could do nothing except nod her agreement.

“Good. I want you to feel me, and know this—” he rocked against her again “—is all for you. I’m not like your other guys. I’m not nice, and it won’t be pretty. But you’ll beg.” He bit her ear lobe softly. She was burning up and about ten seconds away from hopping on the bar and spreading her legs for him before he jerked away from her. Brea stumbled from the loss of contact, embarrassed by her reaction to him, staring into green eyes flashing in anger.

“Listen, Brea, this ain’t a game. You want me? That’s fine. Jealous because you think I took some girl in the back room? I didn’t, by the way, when all I’ve seen for the past three days is you, but I got no problem with that either. But if you want to be a cocktease in the middle of a cocktail party? You better be prepared to follow through with what you’re promising.”

“I’m not like that,” she argued, irritated he continued to ignore what she said. Again.

“You’re not like what? Because the only two times we have really interacted you have been like that. So, who are you? America’s sweetheart or harlot?”

Excerpt:

“But yeah, Casey is just…amazing. Which makes it suck all that much more that I hardly ever get to see him. This weekend was the first time I’ve gotten to see him in almost a month.”
“Ugh, that does suck. And then of course you’ve got to be stressing out every time you think about Ms. Miles strutting her not-so-ugly stuff around him when you’re not there.”
“You’re not helping,” Annie growled.
Lifting his eyebrows at her, Alex shrugged. “Sorry.”
“This blows.” She looked despondently at her plate and pushed at the spinach left on it, her appetite suddenly gone.
“Cheer up, chick. You’ll both be safely together in New York next week.”
“True,” she said, perking up at the reminder. “And hopefully we’ll both do so well that they won’t be able to pick a winner and they’ll announce us both winners! And then we can tour together and Miss Perfect Pop Star Kayla Miles can go fuck herself.”
“There you go—that’s the spirit! More wine?”

My Review

  4 stars

First of as you may know this is the third and final book in the series. So, if you have not read Love in All the Wrong Places and All the Right Things then you should do that. The Winner Takes All starts off right were we left off in All the Right Things. Annie is getting ready to head to New York and try to live her dream of singing. She is still with that sexy dancer Casey. This is a great finish to the series and it brings in a few characters that will be in the next series that Audrey is working on. I love the characters and even though in the first book Annie annoyed me she has kinda grown on me. Of course she has grown as a person but she is still finding her place in the world.  Now with out giving any thing away I will say I was completely shocked at the end of this and even a little mad but I got over it and loved the way it ended. Can't wait for more of Audrey's work.

The One (Halo Series #2) by Kimberly Knight Release Day Blitz

Avery and Nicole's story.

Avery Scott is a hopeless romantic, the complete opposite of his best friend, Easton. For most of his life, he’s been searching for that someone special to spend the rest of his life with. The problem is, he’s had nothing but bad first dates with crazy women he’s met online or at his bar, Halo. When he hears about a singles cruise, his plan is to meet a lot of single women, to test the waters, but when a blonde consumes his every thought, he throws that plan overboard.

Nicole Chambers has had her fair share of heartbreaks. She’s tired of being single or dating guys with girlfriends. She wants to find The One. So she convinces her best friend, Brooke, to go on a singles cruise with her. What she doesn’t expect is to fall head over heels with the first guy she meets.

But what happens once the cruise ends?

Life isn’t always fairytales and rainbows…

And meeting The One doesn’t always mean finding your happily ever after. Because life can give you a precious gift and then dangle it in front of your eyes and you’re left questioning where to go with your future—or if you even have one.

“Come with me for a second?” Avery asked, whispering into my ear.
I shivered as his breath tickled my ear, causing goose bumps. I looked up at him silently questioning where he wanted to take me, but really, it didn’t matter. “Okay.” I stood.
“We’re going for a walk,” Avery murmured to Brooke and Easton. They barely registered what he’d said. Brooke was laughing with Easton—something that I hadn’t seen her do in a long time. Even her beautiful brown eyes had a twinkle to them.
“Where are we going?” I asked as we started to walk through the crowd.
“This way.”
He linked our hands as we walked to the lounge through the doors that led to the side deck. It was quiet, just a few people making out. We stood against the railing looking out into the open water. All I could see was the Pacific Ocean. No birds. No land—just calm blue water and the ship making little waves as we parted the water.
The heat from Avery’s body radiated off him as his left arm pressed into my right. I wanted more than just his arm touching me. I wanted to know what his mouth felt like on mine. I wanted to know the way he tasted, and the way his hands felt on my body.
“It’s crazy that we’re surrounded by nothing but water,” I said, the wind whisking around us causing my hair to fly in my face.
“Yeah, it is.”
I looked over at him as he spoke, his mouth moving closer with each word. I licked my lips, anticipating the moment his mouth met mine. The seconds felt like hours, and everything was in slow motion as he leaned down, brushing my hair aside with his hand before his lips finally met mine.
It started off slow, like he was testing the waters, testing my reaction. I felt his tongue slip out between his lips, silently asking me to open to him. I moaned, doing what he asked and opened up, allowing his tongue to slip in and take a swipe to taste me. I’d never had a kiss be so slow. So passionate. So right.
Avery’s lips were soft and they fit perfectly with mine. Like they were made for me to kiss…only me.
My hands reached up, running through his silky hair, our bodies stepping closer to one another until they were flush. I felt Avery’s arousal and if he could feel mine, he’d know I want to do more than kiss.
Just as our kiss intensified, we were bumped hard into the railing. I broke our kiss, looking at the couple stumbling as they tried to walk. They didn’t even bother to say they were sorry for running into us.
“Are you okay?” Avery asked.
“Yeah.”
“We should get back to our friends,” he said with a tight smile. Avery looked as bummed as I felt about the assholes breaking up our kiss.
“Yeah.”
He reached down and grabbed my hand again. I smiled because even though we’d lost our moment, what was happening between us wasn’t going to stop at one kiss. Maybe we would just talk, get to know each other. But if I was right, his lips were made for me and I wasn’t going to let some drunk assholes ruin my moment.
Wait.” Avery halted us just before we rounded the corner to the pool. “I want to do that again. Tonight,” he said, looking at my mouth.
I smiled. “Me, too.”
Good.” He smiled back.

OH MY GOODNESS where do I even begin!

This is the second book of the Halo series. It is Nicole and Avery's story. It still has the favorite characters from the first book Tattooed Dots. After all Easton and Brooke are Nicole and Avery's best friends. If you read Tattooed Dots and you fell in love with Easton then let me tell you Avery is going to steal your heart away. He is just so sweet and sexy and I just SWOON over him.

Okay, I don't want to give too much away so I will do my best not to. First if you have not read Tattooed Dots I recommend you read it. I think you could probably read The One has a standalone and not be too lost but I think you will enjoy and get the full effect of the friendship these four share. Plus you will know exactly how Nicole and Avery met. Now with that the book starts off with a little bit of a recap kind of because it starts before they met and how the idea came about from both Nicole and Avery's POV. So in the first book in the series is when the Nicole and Avery meet up on a singles cruise and you got little bits of them in it but with this book you get more of the background on just them and what they have been through trying to find the person they each want to be with. Right from the start I was pulled in and felt like I was back visiting old friends or just living along side of them. I loved that I was able to get to know all the characters a little more and could relate to them as if they were real people. I was laughing and smiling and in a few parts I was crying. My heart was actually in pain and breaking for some of the scenes. Even knowing what happened with Brooke in Tattooed Dots somehow Kimberly was still able to write it so well that I was feeling all the emotion again and I was crying again not just for what Brooke was going through but for how her best friend felt and was dealing with it. Of course Nicole & Avery had a few of their own struggles that made me feel like my heart was being ripped from my chest and stomped on. Seriously my chest was aching from their pain and I was crying and laughing and just got carried away with all the emotion that was flowing from this story.

The only thing I didn't like about "The One" was that it ended, but all great stories must come to an end and it was a great, well written, and emotion filled story that I think you will love as much as I did. I know there is at least one more book in the series in the plan and I can't wait to see what happens with it.
